Looking for a Shopify alternative in Egypt

Shopify is one of the most capable commerce platforms in the world. If you are searching for an alternative, it is usually not because it is bad — it is because you sell in Egypt, and some of what you need here is not what a global platform is built around. This page lays out the difference honestly, including the cases where Shopify remains the better choice.

What Shopify is

Shopify is a global, hosted commerce platform used by merchants in most countries. It is mature, well documented, and has by far the largest third-party app ecosystem in the industry. Nothing on this page disputes that. It is built to serve many markets at once, which is its strength everywhere and its limitation in any single one.

Why merchants in Egypt look for an alternative

The reasons we hear are consistent, and none of them are about quality. They are about the specific shape of selling in Egypt:

A structural comparison

Deliberately limited to things that do not change month to month. No prices and no feature counts appear here, because those move and a stale comparison is worse than none.

Where Hekana fits

If your customers are in Egypt, pay cash at the door, read Arabic, and are served by an Egyptian courier, then the things this platform does natively are the things you would otherwise be assembling yourself. That is the whole argument, and it does not extend past the border.

When Shopify is the better choice

We would genuinely point you elsewhere in these cases:

Common questions

Is Hekana a direct replacement for Shopify?
For a merchant selling inside Egypt, it covers the same ground: storefront, catalogue, cart, checkout, orders, shipping and analytics. For a merchant selling across several countries it is not a replacement, and we would say so.
Can I move my products across?
Yes. The catalogue can be uploaded from a CSV, which is the format most platforms export to. Orders and customer history do not transfer; those stay where they were made.
Does Hekana charge a commission on sales?
No. The plans are a subscription, and no plan takes a percentage of what you sell on your own payment account.
What is genuinely weaker here?
The app ecosystem is small and young, and the platform is built for one market. If you need a niche integration that already exists elsewhere, that is a real reason to choose elsewhere.
