How to set the shipping price your customer pays in Hekana
The difference between a flat rate, a per-governorate price and free shipping, where to set them in the dashboard, and how to try the price before you publish.

The shipping price your customer sees on the last step often decides whether the order goes through. In Hekana you control it from the shipping settings. This guide explains the options and how to set them.
If you are still working out the numbers themselves (your cost, and what to charge), start with the shipping guide for online stores and come back when you are ready to enter them.
Where the settings are
In the dashboard sidebar open the Shipping section, then the shipping settings and their Pricing tab. The page opens by saying this is the price the customer pays for delivery at checkout.
The three options
A flat rate
One shipping price for every order, whatever the governorate. You type it into Flat shipping rate (EGP). It is the simplest choice and suits you if most of your sales are in one area. The downside is that the same number applies to Cairo and to the farthest governorate.
A price per governorate
If you want different prices, turn on Charge a different shipping price per governorate? A table of governorates appears, and you type a price next to any governorate you want to change. Rows you leave blank use the flat rate, so you do not have to fill in the whole table.
Free shipping above a threshold
Turn on Enable free shipping above the threshold and set the threshold in pounds. Orders above that amount get free shipping. The amount must be greater than zero, or the dashboard will not accept it.
When a carrier is enabled
Once you enable a carrier, you can also control what the customer pays from the carrier's own page: use the automatically calculated price for the customer's governorate, or add an amount to it. The steps are in the guide to turning on shipping with Bosta.
The governorate table also shows a column with the price the customer will pay, and the pricing page has a What Shipping Costs You section showing what you pay Hekana to deliver to each governorate. The difference matters: one is your cost, the other is your customer's price.
The steps in short
-
Open the shipping settings. From the Shipping section, the Pricing tab.
-
Choose the method. A flat rate, or turn on per-governorate prices.
-
Enter the numbers. The flat rate, and any prices for specific governorates.
-
Decide on free shipping. Turn it on and set the threshold, or leave it off.
-
Save and test. Place a test order yourself from your store and look at the price on the last step before you publish to customers.
Frequently asked questions
What does a governorate I left blank in the table charge?
The flat rate you entered. The dashboard says so in the table itself.
What if there is neither a flat rate nor governorate prices?
The customer pays the platform default on every order until you set your own price.
What does free shipping apply to?
Orders above the threshold you set. The threshold must be greater than zero.
Do changes apply to orders already placed?
Changes to a carrier's settings apply to new orders only, as the carrier page states.
Next
The price you set for the customer has to cover your real cost. To check the maths, see pricing products in the Egyptian market, and if you have not enabled a carrier yet, start with shipping with Bosta. More on the shipping feature page.
